Sheriff Will Montgomery- “As COVID-19 (Coronavirus) spreads across South Carolina, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office has made preparations to ensure that the delivery of our services to our county will continue, uninterrupted. We want to inform everyone that we are taking all necessary precautions and promoting good hygiene habits within our office to minimize our risks to each other and to the public. We will continue to do our job and serve the citizens of Fairfield County.”
“Because of the nature of our job and responsibilities, it is almost impossible for us to maintain the recommended social distancing in all situations. But we will make all attempts to stay within the guidelines of these recommendations to stay safe and respect others.”
“We will continue to remind all of our employees to wash their hands and keep a safe distance from others. We are telling our deputies that if they do make contact with someone exhibiting signs of illness to try to conduct these calls for service outside of residences or on front porches. Deputies are also advised to distance themselves at least 6 feet away from individuals during calls and to keep their uniforms and all equipment clean. We ask that the public remain calm and understand these changes that we have implemented when they may come into contact with our deputies. These decisions are being made to limit exposure and the spread of this virus.
