Brenda Lord-McGrew, the 2018 recipient of the Friend of the Arts Award, was the instigator for the yarn bombing that has taken place in Ridgeway. Beautiful yarn works of art are scattered throughout the town bringing color to inanimate objects like benches, buildings and even lamp posts.
In conjunction with members of the St Stephens Art and Fiber Guild, friends, and Emily Minor with teachers and students from Midland's STEM Institute in Winnsboro, they created a wonderful array of fiber wrappings to share with the town and visitors.
"Art can be expressed in so many different ways," Brenda explained.
Her helpers in the project included Carol Jones, Ralph and Harriot Brown, Dale Mann, Lu Marley, Dee Bennett, Jan Smith, Flo Renford and family, Shirley Smith, Belinda Peters, Debbie Day and Karen Siegling.
